Cédric Villani Elected to French National Assembly


Cédric Villani, who won the Fields Medal in 2010, has been elected to the French National Assembly, receiving nearly 70% of the vote in a constituency south of Paris. (Photo: Sandy Huffaker.) Villani heads the Henri Poincaré Institute in Paris, and is the recipient of the Prize of the European Mathematical Society (2008), the Fermat Prize (2009), the Henri Poincaré Prize (2009), the AMS’s Joseph L.
